Welcome to the homepage of the Somali Language Institute. We are an organization based in Columbus, Ohio working to promote the Somali language and cultural heritage in the United States.

Established in 2004 the S.L.C.I offers a number of services including Somali interpreting, translation, and consultation for businesses and community organizations. We are continuing to expand and we also offer intensive 10 week Somali language courses as well as individualized instruction in the language. Our classes are rigorous and we guarantee that students will benefit from the texts and educational materials developed by the institute. Our courses are designed to develop quick progress. 

In addition to the language courses we offer educational seminars on Somalia, the people or specific issues concerning the community throughout the year as well as seminars that supplement our language courses.  

The S.L.C.I works to develop instructional materials for the Somali language and we hope to illustrate Somali literature, folklore, as well as cultural values and traditions through a series of tapes and books.
